Trauma-informed relationship coach, bespoke matchmaker, writer, community builder, and death doula.

Julie Nguyen created a relationship consultancy with over a decade of experience serving principals, creatives, celebrities, and entrepreneurs across New York, San Francisco, and Europe’s high-end dating space. She has interviewed thousands of people about love, and worked with hundreds of clients to support them in the most important search of their life: to find a partner where they can be seen, understood, accepted, and loved for exactly who they are.

Raised in the Midwest as the daughter of Vietnamese refugees, she grew up without a sense of community or belonging, which left her feeling profoundly alienated. It set off a lifelong curiosity to understanding others with nuance and non-judgment, and an obsession studying the frequency of love. That search shapes the foundation of her work.

Today, themes of belonging, self-discovery, and returning to oneself remain central. Her work is devoted to people at a threshold in their romantic lives, those who are ready to accept the love they deserve, to set down the stories that no longer serve them, and begin writing a fuller, more whole story.

She specializes in working with clients who have done a lot of the “right” things: therapy, self-help, reflection, and still find themselves painfully repeating familiar dynamics in different forms. Her work is to slow that pattern down, unbraid what’s happening beneath the surface, and to co-create a safe field for a new authentic story to securely form—one where deep, sustainable intimacy can finally take place.

Alongside her matchmaking and dating offerings, she is trained in trauma care, somatic experiencing, and currently receiving her certification in polyvagal theory to support nervous system expansion. She is also credentialed as a death doula, a practice that has deepened her capacity to presence and space holding. These techniques and unique perspectives allows her to hold a compassionate, clear container for people navigating the most vulnerable parts of their love stories. In her stories, she explores relationships, sex, dating, mental health, psychology, trauma. culture, identity, astrology, holistic wellness, consciousness, and their intersections. As a writer, she aims to create well-resourced content through a clarifying, loving lens. She is the dating expert for dating app Hily, writes a relationship column with Verywell Mind, and publishes her intimate musings on Substack.

When she’s not working, she values a slow life where she can cultivate joy and spiritual alignment. She’s usually off practicing yoga, curating playlists, reading about all things esoterically cosmic, and traveling to intentional communities.

  • A high-touch service to growth-oriented clients seeking transformative healing and consciousness expansion. Each coaching relationship is a co-creation and tailored to address each person’s intentions and long-term romantic goals. Julie’s goal is to provide you with an authentic pathway toward honest, vulnerable relationships that serve your highest self—which often starts with knowing and loving yourself first. She believes you know what’s best for yourself, and her goal is to empower you to rewrite a narrative that ultimately serves you. She specializes in working with clients interested in elevating communication skills for clarity, emotional regulation, nervous system coherence, connecting to your inner intuition, and finding alignment. She only takes on a select number of long-term clients at any given time, and offer one-time sessions for those seeking immediate clarity.

  • She supports people who identify as anxious, avoidant, or fearful-avoidant in building secure attachment and expanding their capacity for intimacy.

  • The Descent is a six-month soul initiation in relationship storytelling, similar to the hero/heroine’s journey, for those who have done the inner work with therapy, self-help, but still find themselves meeting the same patterns in love. Each container is intuitively structured and held by the golden thread—a relational presence that makes deep undoing survivable rather than annihilating. Her goal is to guide you through the slow, deliberate unfolding of every story about love you inherited and never agreed to, so the truest version of the love you ultimately desire underneath becomes the one your body can finally receive. She weaves together Jungian psychology, somatic depth work, shadow healing, attachment repair, parts integration, polyvagal regulation, compassionate witnessing, and experiential storytelling to express a new, truer story.

  • She partners with mental health platforms, dating apps, and media brands passionate about making a big (and healthy) impact in the sphere of human intimacy. An example of a fun collab—she led and co-directed social dating experiments, such as the Long Second Date, with OURS to normalize proactive couples therapy.

  • As the co-founder of invite-only event series, See You Soon, she plans curated parties and private gatherings to connect like-minded souls in spaces where all beings can feel seen and cultivate a sense of belonging. Her background in events ranges from coordinating the inaugural launch party for global hospitality company AWEAR, hosting a fine-dining technology experience at the James Beard Foundation, gatherings in secret warehouse venues in Brooklyn, and throwing mind-expanding retreats in the Joshua Tree desert.

  • She is available for story assignments related to sex, relationships, mental health, psychedelics, and spirituality. Her pieces are written from a trauma-informed perspective and reinforced with evidence-backed research. Available for copywriting projects and as an expert voice for articles related to any areas within sex, relationships, dating, astrology, personality, and identity. She’s talked about how to date over 40, questions you should ask before getting engaged, and why gift-giving is the most misunderstood love language. She’s written for inclusive lingerie brands, buzzy sex toy companies, helped destigmatize menstrual products for a feminine hygiene marketplace company in India, and more.

  • She runs a boutique, white-glove matchmaking service available by referrals only. It’s a highly selective practice built for discerning clients who want a thoughtful, strategic, and deeply psychological approach to finding their life partner. She discreetly works with select singles for a complete takeover of their dating life to produce targeted matches over a bespoke period of time.

Additional a la carte services include profile picture photography, image consulting, and swiping.

*Currently not taking online dating projects

  • She is a certified Enneagram instructor and can type, analyze, and answer any and all questions about your Enneagram number, how it relates back to your childhood, and current patterns that may be manifesting in your romantic life. The 1-hour sessions include detailed reading, notes, and next steps.

  • For podcast inquiries, she enjoys speaking with hosts about various relationship topics. If you would like Julie to review a product, book, event, or experience for editorial consideration, please reach out to her via the contact form. If it is a fit, she will be in touch.
